The Best Restaurants Guide

The Best Restaurants Guide is an app which came out of the popular Instagram account @bestrestaurantsguide. It covers the top 1% of the restaurants worldwide, and it quickly attracted a lot of followers (100k+ at the moment). The founder wanted to expand the business with a website and an iOS app.

At the very beginning we defined the basic features:

• The directory of the top 1% restaurants worldwide
• The directory of the most prestigious awards winners and recommendations
• The ability to create guides
• The ability to share the guides and follow other users

I was the only designer in the team, along with one software engineer. We started by defining the features and the app logic, followed by the wireframes and quick prototypes that I made in Figma. After the validation, we spent a few months polishing the design and the whole experience.

The app is in beta testing and expected to be released soon.

Working on this project was a challenge for me because I never worked in this industry before (luxury, fine dining etc) and it was super interesting to get out of the comfort zone and build a product for a whole new audience.
